Artist of the Month: The Abrams

The Abrams (brothers John and James) have been playing music together for nearly their entire lives. It’s not only second nature to them at this point, it’s in their blood. As fourth-generation musicians, the burgeoning career of these country/bluegrass brothers feels like it’s meant to be. In their young career, The Abrams have already put together an impressive list of achievements, awards, and accolades. They became the youngest Canadian duo to play on the hallowed Opry stage, they took home the 2017 CMAOntario award for Roots Group of the Year. After releasing their Bob Dylan/Arlo Guthrie tribute album in 2009, Guthrie himself was quoted as saying that these boys are “way too young to be playing that good. I know I will be hearing from […]

Artist of the Month: Danielle Todd

With a new single, a thirst for success, and a passion for country music, Danielle Todd is putting together the start of a big year in 2019. The Guelph, ON, native’s first single, Crazy, has been picking up love and support from radio, online outlets and fans since its late January release. On Spotify and YouTube, the streaming numbers are climbing, and 50,000 plays is just around the corner. And with one listen, it’s clear that we want more from Danielle Todd. Crazy is a catchy track that shows off her voice and has some fun with that helpless feeling of falling in love that we know so well in country songs. And to top it all off, it’s the kind of song that you […]

Artist of the Month: Tebey

It’s a long and winding road to #1 and now Tebey can tell us all about it, with his first Canadian country radio chart topper, Who’s Gonna Love You. The Ontario born-and-raised country singer and songwriter has experienced a lot of great success in his career, but it truly feels like he’s starting a new and exciting chapter right now. We spoke with Tebey this summer, and he told us that he hopes to find a groove that sees him finding success and relevance on a continual basis as his career grows and progresses. And with back-to-back smashes in Denim On Denim and Who’s Gonna Love You, we think Tebey is finding that groove. As a songwriter, Tebey’s talents have been well documented, especially with Justin Moore’s US country […]

Artist of the Month: Kentucky Rails

When asked why they picked the name Kentucky Rails, the members of the emerging Ontario country band all have the same answer to share… “Kentucky Rails is a metaphor for an underdog/Cinderella story. Everyone is familiar with the Kentucky Derby, but what most people don’t know is that the horses up against the “rails” in the 1st and 20th lanes are at a strategic disadvantage in the race… The members of Kentucky Rails have been grinding their whole lives for the opportunity to showcase our own original music over a broad spectrum and we think that the meaning of the name is symbolic of the struggle that all artists go through in order to achieve that dream.” That grind from band members Justin deGraaf, Ryan […]
