Artist of the Month: Mackenzie Leigh Meyer

Hamilton, ON, native Mackenzie Leigh Meyer is motivated to succeed in Canadian country music – propelled by hard work, talent and a desire to do more. Mackenzie’s debut EP was released in mid-2018 and the title Dive Bar Diva has become somewhat of an identifier for the Ontario artist; so much so that it is her handle on both Twitter and Instagram. The four-song EP was a great introduction to country fans, and she hasn’t slowed down a bit since the release. A quick look at Meyer’s tour schedule and social media posts show that she is always working. She’s either on stage, writing, or working on new music to release in the (hopefully near) future. She’s a busy woman. In 2019, Mackenzie had some […]

Artist of the Month: Robyn Ottolini

Robyn Ottolini has been writing, playing, and sharing her music for audiences at festivals, songwriters circles, open mics, and more. And she’s just getting started. With her six-song EP, Classic (released in February 2019), Robyn introduced more of her music to fans across Canada and beyond. She’s seen Him Problem cross the 100,000 stream mark on Spotify and has some amazing merch to go with the song. She filmed a great summer-time music video for Where We’re At with director Tim Deegan. And if we were to make a guess, we’d say there’s a lot more coming from the Uxbridge, Ontario country music singer-songwriter. With a peer group and support system that includes fellow artists like Leah Daniels, Julien Kelland, Ben Hudson, Kris Barclay, and […]

Artist of the Month: Alli Walker

Alli Walker made Toronto her home when she was 19 years old and ready to chase her dream. And now, she’s starting to see more and more evidence of that dream coming true. The release of songs from her upcoming debut album, The Basement Sessions: What I’ve Learned So Far, has taken her to country radio, media outlets all over the landscape, and all signs point to more of the same coming in the near future. None of this happened overnight, of course. Like so many artists before her, Alli’s career is already hundreds of shows and songs deep, as she has worked to hone her craft and find her voice as an artist. The result of that work and exploration is what Alli Walker […]

Artist of the Month: The Abrams

The Abrams (brothers John and James) have been playing music together for nearly their entire lives. It’s not only second nature to them at this point, it’s in their blood. As fourth-generation musicians, the burgeoning career of these country/bluegrass brothers feels like it’s meant to be. In their young career, The Abrams have already put together an impressive list of achievements, awards, and accolades. They became the youngest Canadian duo to play on the hallowed Opry stage, they took home the 2017 CMAOntario award for Roots Group of the Year. After releasing their Bob Dylan/Arlo Guthrie tribute album in 2009, Guthrie himself was quoted as saying that these boys are “way too young to be playing that good. I know I will be hearing from […]
