On Saturday, November 25th, the CMAOntario RoadShow will be pulling into Fleming College, to host a daylong program of educational seminars. For aspiring music professionals, artists and songwriters, it is a unique opportunity to network with peers and access industry experts with the potential to impact your career.

A perennial favourite, the DEMORAMA LISTENING SESSION, provides you with the captive audience you’ve always wanted. Send a demo and get direct feedback from industry professionals – both from a craft and business point of view. Find out what these experts have to say about song structure, lyric writing and generally how to improve your songs. You’ll also have a chance to put the panel on the spot during our Q & A.

Send us an MP3 of your song plus a copy of the lyrics by Thursday November 23rd at 5:00pm by email to info@cmaontario.ca.  Or you can bring your demo on a USB drive – mp3 format – plus 4 printed copies of the lyrics. 

Registration begins at 8:30am, with our first panel kicking off the day at 9:30am.

Common Challenges Indie Artists Face And How to Conquer Them

Independent artists need to conquer many facets of the industry to have a shot at making music their full time career. They must have the entrepreneurial drive to overcome obstacles and do whatever it takes to create something out of nothing to be successful enough to attract experts to do the grunt work. Learn how to organize your time to effectively manage your business and art, and how to make money with a music career.

Developing Your Image: Creating Marketing Materials That Work For You

The image that you project consists of everything that contributes to your reputation. It includes not only the way in which you perform, but the professional image you project to the world. Does your Website, Online Presence and Electronic Press Kit truly represent your music? The focus of this panel is on the components of a promotional toolbox—the pieces necessary for building an artist’s professional image and how to ensure your brand reflects your music.

Demorama Listening Session

Feedback is one of the most important aspects of growth for an artist. Our demo listening session offers a unique opportunity for selected musicians to get direct feedback from seasoned music professionals, those who listen to demos as part of their job.

Note: We recommend that you submit your demo in advance by sending an mp3 plus the lyrics for the song you wish to have one included to info@cmaontario.ca with Peterborough Demorama in the subject line. You can also bring your song on a USB plus 4 COPIES of your lyrics with you to the event.
