Tim Hicks is one of Ontario country music’s biggest stars – and he’s still crossing things off of his to-do list.
The Niagara-area native has been burning up the Canadian country charts since his debut release in 2012. In the years since, he’s landed 11 singles in the Top 10, he’s toured extensively, and he’s taken home some big awards.
Tim Hicks is a 3-time Male Artist of the Year Award winner from the Country Music Association of Ontario (2014, 2015, 2017); he won the Rising Star Award from the Canadian Country Music Association in 2014, along with more than a dozen other nominations; and he has been nominated for Juno Awards as well. The recognition is well deserved and we’re sure there’s more to come.
Hicks has also built a reputation as a dynamic performer on stage. From his first tours as a supporting artist to his headlining runs on the Get A Little Crazy and Shake These Walls Tours, he has entertained thousands of country music fans across Canada. And this fall, with Tebey, Madeline Merlo, and Andrew Hyatt coming along with him, he’ll do it again on the Get Loud Tour. With 18 dates from Canada’s east coast to the west, Hicks and company will get up on stage and do what they do.
With all of the awards, nominations, and Gold and Platinum certifications that Tim Hicks has to be proud of so far in his career, he seems just as genuinely thankful for his fans. We asked him about their impact and he told us that they are a big part of the process. Between their social media posts, telling their friends about artists, and overwhelming support for their favourites, they help push everything forward and to new heights.
Tim also said that he loves when he recognizes fans from social media in the meet and greet line and can say hello to them by name. And, he said, he’s especially tickled when they react with surprise that he knows who they are. So don’t be scared to tweet at him; maybe he’ll say hi the next time you see him!
With his latest album New Tattoo, Tim Hicks has taken another step forward in his career. The lead single, Loud, climbed into the Top 10 on the charts. And the follow-up single, The Worst Kind, a duet with emerging star Lindsay Ell, is getting ready to start its climb as well. The 12 songs are a fantastic collection to add to his library, and give him new fuel for the live show.
Tim Hicks has been playing live music for a long time, he’s been working on his career for more than a decade, and he’s been a fixture on the Canadian country music scene since 2012. With four full-length studio albums, a live record, and more to come, we know that Tim Hicks has got a lot more to give!
