It’s a long and winding road to #1 and now Tebey can tell us all about it, with his first Canadian country radio chart topper, Who’s Gonna Love You.
The Ontario born-and-raised country singer and songwriter has experienced a lot of great success in his career, but it truly feels like he’s starting a new and exciting chapter right now. We spoke with Tebey this summer, and he told us that he hopes to find a groove that sees him finding success and relevance on a continual basis as his career grows and progresses. And with back-to-back smashes in Denim On Denim and Who’s Gonna Love You, we think Tebey is finding that groove.
As a songwriter, Tebey’s talents have been well documented, especially with Justin Moore’s US country radio #1, Somebody Else Will. But don’t forget that he’s written big tracks for the likes of One Direction, FLO RIDA, Fifth Harmony, Cher, and The Veronicas. He knows what he’s doing, he knows how to tell a story, and when he’s working on country music, it shines through.
We’ve been fortunate to follow Tebey’s career since the early days on country radio, and through shows at the CNE, the Sound of Music Festival, the Boots & Hearts Music Festival, the Havelock Jamboree, and this fall on the Get Loud Tour with Tim Hicks. We’ve seen the crowds and fans in Ontario and across the country fall deeper in love with his energy, songs, and performance. On stage, Tebey has become a premier performer in the country genre and beyond. His own influences and style have combined to turn him into more than a “stand at the mic and sing” guy. His enthusiasm spreads to the crowd to create an awesome back and forth feeling of excitement. And his songs – with their super hooks, great vibes, and that connection to country music fans through lyrics that are relatable and reflective of love and life and all the rest – keep making Tebey a bigger and bigger draw everywhere he goes.
And trust us, he appreciates that. In a Q&A earlier this year for the release of his newest EP, Love A Girl, Tebey had a message for his fans that he wanted to share: “I want the fans to know how much I truly appreciate them spending their hard earned money to buy the music, stream the music and come to the shows. Without them, making music for a living wouldn’t really be possible.”.
We strongly suggest that you stay tuned for more exciting news from Tebey in the not-too-distant future. Until then, hit “play” on his career catalogue and turn it up!
