Artist of the month : Andrew Hyatt
Known for literally and figuratively wearing many hats, Andrew Hyatt remains grounded despite an ever-evolving career. With tens of millions of streams and video views, multiple Top 10 radio hits, and a growing list of accolades—including the 2022 Canadian Country Music Award for Rising Star and a win in SiriusXM’s Top of the Country competition—Hyatt has solidified his place in the Canadian country music scene. He has also earned numerous nominations from both the Canadian Country Music Association and the Country Music Association of Ontario, and has previously toured with Dallas Smith, Dean Brody, and Tim Hicks.
This year, Hyatt invited fans deeper into his world with the release of his EP, Andrew Hyatt and the Ten Year War, which dropped on August 29th. The six-song collection marks a decade of heartbreak, healing, and growth—both as an artist and as a person. Anchored by the feature track “Sad Eyes,” the EP explores emotional territory rarely seen in mainstream country.
“These songs are entirely me,” Hyatt shares. “They don’t all fit the centre of the genre, but they hold some of the deepest parts of my brain and heart.” Thoughtfully sequenced, the EP takes listeners on a raw, unfiltered emotional journey—tracing experiences with addiction, anger, depression, loss, and ultimately, love. Hyatt describes it as “an unapologetic look behind the curtain,” offering fans an intimate glimpse at the man behind the music. The EP closes with “Save the Date,” a poignant track that brings the project full circle.
Fresh off multiple legs of his Country Mixtape Tour alongside Shawn Austin and Tyler Joe Miller, as well as standout performances at Boots and Hearts and CCMA Week, Hyatt is showing no signs of slowing down. This fall, fans can catch him live at the Small Halls Festival in Clearview Township on October 4th, and in his hometown of Sudbury on November 15th. He’ll also be hitting the road across Western Canada from mid-October through early November.
