The Country Music Association of Ontario is thrilled to launch our partner initiative with New Country Spirit which will give Ontario country music artists an opportunity to showcase their talents on June 16 and 17, 2018 at the Mississauga Waterfront Festival in beautiful Port Credit (Mississauga), Ontario. You don’t want to miss your chance to perform at this festival!

Using social media, together with New Country Spirit, we will promote and engage the community, including the country music fan base, so everyone will benefit from months of social media marketing to highlight the showcase, its applicants, and ultimately the 3 prize winners.

Note: Performance schedule for both June 16 and June 17 will be decided by MWF and are subject to change.  After completion of winners’ sets, CMAOntario will offer all three selected artists the prizes.

Showcase Program

Those bands/solo artists who wish to enter will submit to New Country Spirit (NCS) a link to a video of themselves singing a full song; either an original or a cover song. NCS will post videos on the NCS Facebook page and fans, friends, followers and more will vote (through the number of views) during the allotted time frame. NCS will officially announce the Top 10 applicants and then send the applicants’ links and ‘view’ results to a Selection Committee who will independently and anonymously assign scores to each video based on selection criteria. NCS will tally all the scores and announce the 3 applicants selected to perform at the Mississauga Waterfront Festival.

Official Rules & Requirements

Here are the official rules. To be eligible, the band/solo artist must:

1. Currently reside in Ontario and be a member of CMAOntario.
2. Have performed at least three (3) live performances in the last year.
3. Not currently have a single charting on the top country music charts. All independently produced acts with independent releases residing in Ontario are welcome to apply.
4. Be capable of performing 1 x 30-minute set in the evening on June 16, 2018 (Grand Prize winner). The 2 runners-up must be capable of performing 1 x 20-minute set in the afternoon on June 17, 2108. Performance times to be confirmed by the host festival.
5. Sign a release form that grants NCS and CMAOntario staff certain rights to the use of the video content for marketing purposes.
6. Use legal means to attract voters during the voting. Provincial and Federal law dictates the limits on acceptable methods of solicitation of votes. Manipulation of the voting in any way will result in disqualification from the showcase.
7. Not make false claims or misrepresentation of persons.
