Country music performer now speaks openly about her struggles with mental illness
London’s Jessica Mitchell will be home in June with more country music award nominations.
The 33-year-old singer songwriter received four nominations for the Country Music Association of Ontario awards being held at Centennial Hall June 11, for her single Workin’ on Whiskey, for songwriting, female and roots artist of the year.
“It’s so exciting and very kind of the voters,” said Mitchell, now in Nashville writing and recording songs for a new album.

New headliners announced for Tin Pan North Songwriters Festival in Toronto (May 25-27)
The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) – Toronto Chapter – is hosting their eighteenth annual TIN PAN NORTH songwriters’ event, May 25-27, at various venues throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). See performances by over 40 talented songwriters, performing their songs and sharing the story behind the song. Mark these dates, so you don’t miss three great nights of songwriters sharing their songs.
TIN PAN NORTH has a special Gala Show on Saturday, May 27th at Hugh’s Room, hosted by KX-947 DJ, Melissa Forsyth. Headliners just announced include: Kira Isabella, Beverley Mahood and Leah Daniels. Previously announced headliners are: Keith Glass and Joan Besen from Prairie Oyster, and Gil Grand.
Other Headliners for the Songwriter Rounds include: Jeffrey Joseph East (Nashville Staff Writer), JK Gulley, Katherine Wheatley, Wendell Ferguson, Andrea England, Dani Strong, David Leask, Thomas Wade, James Gordon and Kelly Prescott.
And finally, Country Music super-star Jason McCoy will highlight a special songwriter’s night, Thursday, May 25th, at Spot 1 in Brampton.

Country Music Association of Ontario: Star-studded Legacy show to feature Marie Bottrell and The Good Brothers
It shouldn’t be too tough to find Genevieve Fisher during the first weekend of June.
The rising Canadian country music star and London native will be playing three shows, including the Country Music Association of Ontario’s Awards show at Centennial Hall June 11.
Oh, there’s a celebrity baseball game in there too.
Details of the CMA Ontario Roundup June 8-11 were unveiled Friday.

Cold Creek County headlines Cobourg’s first country music festival
Celebrate Canadian country music on the shores of Lake Ontario at the Country Wild Music Festival on Saturday, June 3rd in Cobourg.
Ontario natives Cold Creek County — who were nominated for the 2017 Juno Awards Breakthrough Group of the Year — are headlining the one-day festival, which takes place from 3 to 10 p.m. at Victoria Park.
Other bands performing during the festival are Runaway Angel, Gentlemen Husbands, Kansas Stone, Colin Amey, Sacha, Sawmill Road, SweetGrass Band, and Marc Ekins.

Trackside adds two days of local talent to the festival
With less than two months until Trackside Music Festival celebrates Canada and country music at Western Fair District the party just got a bit bigger.
Trackside has announced the eight-artist line-up for the event’s second stage featuring the Homegrown Spotlight on the Side-Track Stage.
The two-day line-up brings in Ontario’s best up-and-coming country artists. The Side-Track Stage will put the spotlight on emerging country talent and allow fans to get to know the new artists.
July 1 features contemporary power-trio Runaway Angel, who will take the Side-Track Stage at Trackside. This Ontario-native group has been a country music festival staple and have been nominated for a Ontario Country Music Award.

Ottawa’s Kira Isabella featured on the newest single by Chris Buck Band
“That’s When You Know” is a love song that pairs the powerful vocals of Kira Isabella – the CCMA & CMAOntario Female Artist of the Year – with the vocal talents of Chris Buck while showcasing a softer side of the Vancouver-based band. The song is quickly gaining traction at radio enjoying its 3rd week with the #1 most downloads at country radio and Top 10 most downloaded on all formats. It’s on its way to charting on the Top 50 and is growing stronger every week.
Kira Isabella just wrapped up the Meat & Candy Tour with Old Dominion on select dates across Ontario and is currently working on her 3rd album. This is the fourth single from the Chris Buck Band’s debut release which has already earned the band Top 40 radio success with its first three singles as well as industry accolades at home, in Nashville and internationally.
