Rideau Ferry singer-songwriter Amanda Jordan to play CCMA showcase

Amanda Jordan keeps getting opportunities to showcase her talent.

This September, Jordan, the local singer-songwriter will be heading to Saskatoon to play in the “Diamonds In The Rough” showcase show at Canadian Country Music Association (CCMAs) Awards.

Jordan, 21, was selected along with many other artists from across Canada, to perform at the Radisson Hotel during the week of the CCMAs on Sept. 7.

Tebey Golf Classic Raises $25,000

The inaugural Tebey Golf Classic, which took place in his hometown of Peterborough, ON, recently, was a resounding success raising $25,000 for a new youth mental health initiative for the region, in partnership with Your Family Health Team Foundation.

“We are very grateful for Tebey’s support and passion for this project and were honoured that he chose to partner with us for his golf classic,” said Laura Kennedy, Executive Director, Your Family Health Team Foundation. “Thanks to Tebey, the generosity of the country music community and the local support we received from Peterborough residents with attendance, donations and sponsorship, we were able to raise $25,000 that will support youth struggling with mental health issues in our community.”

Hosted at the beautiful quarry Golf Club golfers enjoyed lunch before hitting the course, where in addition to golf they sampled a signature American Mule compliments of Tito’s Vodka, a shot of Fireball whiskey at the Peterborough Petes’ putting contest and Carpool Country Karaoke.   After the round, golfers came in from the elements to enjoy a cold beer at the Coors Banquet reception with an acoustic performance by Tebey himself. Country 105’s Brian Young had the pleasure of surprising Tebey with a Gold record plaque presentation for his single “Wake Me Up” shortly after the performance.

While golfers enjoyed dinner at the club house a silent and live auction took place for items that included an autographed Auston Matthews and Mike Fisher jerseys, tickets to live shows, meet & greet with artists like Chad Brownlee, autographed CDs and merch from Jess Moskulake, an autographed Madeline Merlo caricature, tickets to live shows, and many more fantastic prizes.  Just over $25,000 was raised at the event, which will support a drop in day clinic for mental health in Peterborough, Ontario.

Ottawa’s Norm Brunet Selected as Finalist in Country Showdown Songwriting Contest

CMAOntario member Norm Brunet from Ottawa recently had his song “I Need Your Love” selected as a finalist in the American Music Channel’s Summer 2017 “Country Showdown Songwriting Contest”. Brunet is one of approximately 35 finalists who will have their songs evaluated by a panel of expert judges including Grammy Award nominated and Emmy Award winning songwriters, publishers, producers, and music business executives.

Tim Hicks, Cold Creek County comment on returning to Lucknow’s Music In The Fields stage

Two things that set the Music In The Fields festival apart from the plethora of Ontario country music festivals is: 1) It is primarily a fundraiser for the Lucknow and District Kinsman Club who then donate to local initiatives. And 2) It’s reputation for a down right good time for guests, volunteers and even the performers are aware of the great reputation.

Setting the Aug. 24-26 festival off is Meghan Patrick who will take over the Thursday night stage along side DJ Bugelboy.

Getting the party started for the two busiest days of the three-day festival is Take It On Home singer, Genevieve Fisher, of London, Ontario.

Havelock County Jamboree Aug. 17-20 features Lee Brice, Justin Moore, Jana Kramer, Aaron Pritchett, Confederate Railroad, Meghan Patrick

 

Canada’s largest live outdoor country music and camping festival returns to Havelock in August.

The Havelock Country Jamboree is happening from Aug. 17 to 20, with an official kick off party on Aug. 16.

This year’s lineup includes more than 25 artists from Canada and the United States. Some entertainers are seasoned veterans, while others are up-and-coming stars. They’ll be performing on the Havelock site’s twin stages.

Kris Barclay is this year’s host and is performing in the beer tent for the jamboree’s kick off.
