Artist of the Month: Amanda Jordan

Amanda Jordan knows what it is to be the star of the show and she’s aiming for more of the same, in brighter spotlights, as her career in country music grows.

The Smiths Falls, ON native is a singer, songwriter, actress and model, and her hard work at each of those crafts isn’t going unnoticed. The 21-year-old took the stage in Sudbury in February as Brett Kissel’s opener on the We Were That Song Tour. Amanda was selected as one of the top entrants in the #KickItWithKissel contest, impressing the judges with her cover of Kissel’s I Didn’t Fall In Love With Your Hair.

We saw Amanda last fall during Toronto’s Indie Week as she took the stage at the M88 Management Group showcase. She sang a mix of originals and covers that night, showing everyone in the room that the talent in her voice is real, and that she’s certainly comfortable onstage with all eyes on her.

Her Indie Week set included her 2014 debut single, Letting It Go Tonight, as well as Unknow You, You Fit Me Better, and Kinda Like A Guy Like You, which Amanda performed for the first time in front of a live crowd.

Past experiences like those – and future ones that are certainly coming – will put her in front of more country music fans and give her a chance to show what she’s got to offer. Having seen her up close, we can tell you that all of the tools are there and Amanda Jordan has got what it takes to entertain a crowd. Whether she’s singing her own songs, or covers like Tin Man and I Like The Sound Of That, her voice is strong and will make you want more.

Whether she’s at home in Smiths Falls, or traveling to writing sessions and stages across Ontario and beyond, Amanda Jordan is becoming one to watch on the Canadian country music scene.
