As part of the evening’s honours, Carroll Baker and Larry Delaney will each be presented with the Impact Award.

Known as Canada’s First Lady Of Country Music, Carroll Baker epitomizes every value that has made country music the enduring form that it is: honesty, reality, genuine feeling, hard work, love, family, friendship and respect for others. With a career spanning more than 40 years, she has achieved more than 20 number one records, 12 of which were consecutive. Carroll is an inductee of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame; recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from both the Province of Nova Scotia and Province of Ontario; multiple winner of JUNO, CCMA and SOCAN/BMI awards; and in 2009, appointed a Member of the Order of Canada.

Larry Delaney, from Eastview, Ontario, launched “Capital Country News” on April 1, 1980 to provide Canadian country music artists and industry with accurate and informative media coverage. Within two years, the monthly newspaper had generated a national readership, and re-branded to become “Country Music News”. Country Music News published monthly for 32 years for a total of 383 monthly issues. Larry Delaney is an inductee of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame (1989) and CCMA’s Hall of Honour (1996); is jointly inducted with wife Joanne in the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall Of Fame (1993); is an 11-time recipient of the CCMA’s Country Music Person Of Year; and in 2012 was awarded the CCMA’s Hank Smith Award Of Excellence. Since the closure of Country Music News, Larry Delaney has remained active in supporting Canadian country music and its artists, as a freelance writer for various local, national and international based magazines as well as the popular “Ontario Country Pioneers” reports featured in CMAOntario’s monthly online Newsletter.
