In the Country with Dave Woods:
Angelica Appelman
Dave Woods chats with Kitchener, Ontario’s Angelica Appelman, for the July 2024 CMAOntario In The Spotlight feature. Songwriting became a part of Angelica’s life when she was 13. It was her way of expressing her emotions. She calls this period in her life “Taylor Swift-ing” her way through high school. Angelica made a great first impression on the Canadian country music scene with the release of her debut single “Happy Place” in January 2022.
“My single ‘Happy Place’ is a song that means so much to me, because it was my debut single, all about cherishing the simple times and the simple things with the ones you love and who love you,” shares Angelica. “I was inspired to write this song when I spent a wonderful summer day with my niece and nephew during the pandemic and realized that was all I needed to be happy. That is my happy place. It has been such a thrill to watch ‘Happy Place’ take off and continue to live on to this day.”
In April 2023, Angelica released her debut album A Reason Or A Season – produced by Matt Koebel – which featured her debut single plus “Guilt Trip”, “U-Turn” & more. Whether it’s performing her original songs or covers, playing with a full band or performing at a songwriters showcase, Angelica is an entertainer who knows how to put emotion in a song & get the crowd to sing along.
This summer, Angelica will perform at Cavendish Beach Music Festival & Kemptville Live Music Festival – with more shows planned. Please tune in to learn more about Angelica & her music career as Dave puts her In The Spotlight!
