Kristine St-Pierre

Artiste du mois : Kristine St-Pierre

Ottawa-based singer-songwriter Kristine St-Pierre has built a career on honest songwriting, a warm, expressive voice, and a sound that moves comfortably between folk, roots, and country. Performing in both English and French, the self-described chansonnière au coeur voyageur has taken her music across Canada and to audiences in Europe, Africa and Ukraine, creating songs that connect across both language and borders.

It has also been an impressive two years for St-Pierre. In 2026, she was named CMAOntario Francophone Artist of the Year for the second consecutive year, following her 2025 win. The recognition adds to a career that has included a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for her 2017 French-language album La promesse.

Her fourth album, Love & Vulnerability, released in 2024, brought together the different sides of St-Pierre’s musical identity, blending folk, pop and roots while placing her songwriting front and centre. But she hasn’t slowed down since.

Earlier this year, St-Pierre teamed up with Edmonton singer-songwriter Krista Hartman for their first collaboration, releasing the upbeat country-folk song in two versions: “Drifter” in English and “Nomade” in French. The collaboration explores the pull between chasing new horizons and remaining connected to the people and places that keep us grounded.

Her newest single, “Lemonade Stand,” arrived August 11, offering a bright and optimistic reminder to look for moments of good even when life gets difficult. Co-written with Gabby Pratrice and Douglas Romanow and produced by Romanow, the song centres on choosing joy where we can and refusing to let our hardest moments define the bigger story.

That sense of purpose has long been part of St-Pierre’s work. Beyond music, she has used her voice to advocate for equality and women’s rights. Her song “Les femmes” has been featured on CBC’s Q in connection with commemorations of the 1989 École Polytechnique tragedy, reflecting the way her songwriting often reaches beyond personal experience to larger conversations.

And more music is still ahead in 2026. St-Pierre is preparing a full release of her holiday project Chansons pour Noël this November. The project follows the six-song edition released independently on Bandcamp and builds on a holiday catalogue that also includes Noël avec toi, her 2019 collaboration with Franco-Manitoban artist Justin Lacroix.
