Artist of the Month: Genevieve Fisher

There’s nothing like a comeback! After taking time away from new releases and the spotlight to grow her family, Genevieve Fisher is back—reenergized, refocused, and ready to continue the journey she began.

Last November, Fisher released her brand new single, “Must Be Listening,” which quickly reached #1 on the Top CanCon downloads chart. Led by Fisher’s vocals, the track features rich harmonies by fellow Canadian country artist Madeline Merlo. Merlo co-wrote the song alongside Jennifer Schott, Dylan Guthro and Kelly Archer.

“Must Be Listening” blends classic country warmth with modern production. The overall tone is uplifting yet grounded in the melodic charm Fisher is known for. It evokes the idea of hearing someone – not just in sound, but in sentiment and lived experience. A throughline of connection, attentiveness, and emotional presence runs throughout.

The new release marks a meaningful new chapter in Fisher’s career and celebrates her return to music.

Recently, Fisher returned to the stage to perform “Must Be Listening” at a series of live shows. She appeared as a supporting act for Brett Kissel and participated in the CMAOntario SnowBall in partnership with Elyse Saunders’ Warm Coats, Warm Hearts coat drive. Among the most memorable moments was a special performance with the London Symphonia and a 60-member student choir—an ambitious, one-of-a-kind production designed as a musical journey through “Genevieve’s Life in Music.”

Throughout her career, Fisher has earned nine Top 50 hits on Billboard BDS and Mediabase Canadian National Country charts. She has also received seven Female Artist of the Year nominations, along with numerous Singer and Songwriter nominations from the Country Music Association of Ontario. Drawing from her Indigenous heritage, Fisher has achieved three #1 singles on the North American Indigenous Music Countdown chart.
