Artist of the Month: Road Hammers
Clearly, there ain’t enough room in this feature to tell the whole Road Hammers story. And even if we tried, geez, they’re still writing new chapters every day. Do these guys sleep?
Since 2004, Jason McCoy, Clayton Bellamy and Chris Byrne have been collecting fans, chart numbers, awards and frequent flier points. Their recipe of grit, hooks, character, and showmanship has continued to pack playlists and venues over a span of 22 years, showing no signs of letting up. To date, they’ve racked up 3 Top 5, 3 Top 10, and 4 Top 20 singles, over 11 million YouTube views, multiple CCMA Awards, a JUNO Award, and gold and platinum certifications.
They’ve released so many catchy energetic tunes that, from “I’m a Road Hammer”, East Bound and Down”, Girl on the Billboard”, “Homegrown”, Crazy About You”, and the certified Platinum single “Mud”, up to their recent “Till the Wheels Fall Off” (featuring Big Wreck’s Ian Thornley and Theory of A Deadman’s Tyler Connolly), you could build an entire Road Hammers playlist for your next road trip and you’ll have enough left over for the return.
And those frequent flier points? They’ve left their DNA all over North America, Australia, Europe and the UK. They’ve shared stages with Chris Stapleton, Nickelback, Trace Adkins, Loretta Lynn, Dierks Bentley, Hank Williams Jr., Dwight Yoakam, Marty Stuart, The Scorpions, Def Leppard, and Steve Earle… and many more. This year, they’ll tour across Canada in June, July and August, with another Australian invasion in the sched for October.
It’s no secret that Jason McCoy has been a massive supporter of this Association, having recently completed his 10th year of hosting the CMAOntario Awards with energy, style and big scoops of humour. And his Hammers buddy Clayton was there, as part of a tribute to Jason at the 2025 CMAOntario Awards in Hamilton.
If you haven’t experienced The Road Hammers live, do yourself and your friends a favour and catch one of those dates this summer. Warning: it might take you a couple of days to recover, so plan ahead…
