The 2012 CCMA's

Anyone who has an interest in the country music industry and has not yet attended Country Music Week should seriously consider for next year.  It continues to be a hotbed of both established and undiscovered talent and a goldmine of information and connections.  The seminars on all subjects country are informative and the panelists are approachable. The parties and showcases are not only fun and inspiring but again a hub to meet new contacts.  It’s also a place where you are bound to see your favourite artist perform at one of the functions. This year the CMA Ontario would like to congratulate all winners connected to Ontario.

Radio station in a Secondary Market: KX96 in Oshawa.

Hall of Fame Artist: Johnny Burke.

Builder, Hall of Fame Artist: Ralph Murphy (ASCAP).

Top Selling Canadian Album of the Year: Johnny Reid “Fire it Up”.


Awarded at the Industry Brunch:

Album Design of the Year: Jill Snell and Mitch Nevins for their contribution on the cover of DIRT (Dean Brody).

Management Company of the Year RGK Entertainment.

Booking Agency of the Year: The Agency Group.

On Air Personality/s of the Year: Toff and Melissa of the Morning Ride (KX94-FM Hamilton).

Congratulations to KT Timmermans of CFRM in Little Current and owner of Manitoulin Country Fest on her re-election to the board and to Brian Hetherman of Cerebus Management.

Both are CMA Ontario members.



A meeting was hosted by Don Green for all provincial music associations.  Those who were able to attend this year were from

Manitoba (MCMA), Saskatchewan (SCMA) and BC (BCCMA).  As the CMA Ontario will produce our first awards show in May, they have all offered their support and advice.  We also agreed to have regular skype meetings to pool ideas and information to help meet our member’s needs.

CMAO Member Steve Kassay, VP, Programming & Operations for KX96 (Oshawa) and KX94(Hamilton). KX96 picked up a CCMA for Secondary Market Station and KX94 received the CCMA for On-Air Personality/s of the Year for Toff and Melissa.
