There are going to be a lot of good things happening for many of our CMAO members at Country Music Week in Edmonton this September – showcase opportunities, performances, awards nominations and more.

Deane Cameron will be receiving the 2014 Hank Smith Award of Excellence to add to his Order of Canada and his Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award. Wendell Ferguson will be inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame (Artist) along with Ron Sakamoto (Builder). Beverley Mahood is being presented with the Slaight Music Humanitarian Award. Leah Daniels has won the CCMA Spotlight Contest. Both Nicole Scott and the Lovelocks have been chosen for the Project Discovery Showcases, Runaway Angel (Cadence Grace, Ann Chaplin and Stacey Zegers) have won a performance slot at the West Edmonton Mall during Country Music Week. Add to that the many awards nominations received by Deric Ruttan, Tim Hicks, Johnny Reid, Jason Blaine, The Western Swing Authority, Lindi Ortega, Tebey, Shane Chisholm, Jason Barry, Shane Guse, Ali Raney, Doug Johnson, Ed Ringwald, MDM, RGK, ole, CMT, Open Road, Boots and Bourbon, Boots and Hearts, CHCQ-FM, CFRM-FM, CJXX-FM, Patrick Duffy and Sheila Hash (Mediavandals); and a lot more Ontario artists will be seen at the Songwriters Cafe and special events. Apologies to anyone we missed!

Ontario will be well represented at Canadian Country Music Week. Good luck to all the nominees.
