The CMAO is buzzing with activity as we head towards the inaugural CMAO Awards. Since opening up the nominations in mid January, the response has been very encouraging. I had the opportunity to have discussions with some of the artists enquiring about nomination, and I’m very impressed with the variety and talent level that we have here in Ontario. The awards show tickets have been on sale for our members since Friday February 8, 2013 and they are now available to the general public. I encourage everyone to go and buy your tickets before they sell out, so you can take part of this historic moment and this unique Ontario celebration.
Don’t forget, the first round of nominations will close on February 15, 2013. If you are reading this before the deadline and you want to nominate any artist that you feel needs to be brought to the attention of the public, go to www.cmaontario.ca and submit a nomination. Remember, for this first round, anyone, member or non-member, can nominate an artist.
The next round of actual balloting goes out shortly and only CMAO members in good standing will be voting on the nominated artists. We have some members who joined upon our inception that have not renewed their memberships. If you’re not sure whether your membership has lapsed or not, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to make your voice heard. If you’re not a member, then please sign up at www.cmaontario.ca.
I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day with your special someone. It was our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple; I think I set the bar too high, as I bought her a vacuum cleaner… just joking! If I had done so, this message would not be going out today!
