BLACKIE JACKETT JR. TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE “DOROTHY” AUGUST 17 TO RADIO AND AUGUST 24 ONLINE

After taking the country scene by storm with the release of their debut album For A Good Time Call earlier this year, country chaos group Blackie Jackett Jr. will be releasing their new single ‘Dorothy’ on August 24.

LISTEN

“This song came about on the road. You meet some people on the road and you hope you see them again. Some, you know you best not,” explains James Black, “This song is about a woman that makes you want to stay and settle down. And how she should stay the hell away from you. I’m a rambling man.”

The band will be holding an exclusive secret event in Toronto on August 17 to celebrate the release and film the single’s music video. Limited to 50 special entrants, fans are encouraged to keep an eye on Blackie Jackett Jr’s social pages for a chance to win their way into the party. For those not able to attend, the event will be live streamed on Blackie Jackett Jr’s YouTube channel at 8:15pm on the 17th.

Since their on-stage debut at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre during Canadian Music Week, Blackie Jackett Jr. have continued to entice industry and charm crowds across Ontario with their unique smart-ass brand of country music and high-octane live show throughout festival season. Following the secret show, Blackie JackettJr. will be taking the stage at Markham Beer Festival on August 19th to keep the party rolling.

PHOENIX PROGRAM NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

After a very successful launch in British Columbia in 2017, the renowned Phoenix program is now open to applicants from across Canada. Mid-career music managers, label owners, and senior music business executives are encouraged to apply.

The Phoenix program is an intensive professional development course for owners or senior management working in the Canadian music business, who want to grow their operations locally and internationally. Participants will focus on developing tools to analyze the viability and growth of their business, skills to create a detailed business plan, and business and financial modelling. The program will be presented by Music Nova Scotia, and is funded by MusicactionFACTOR and the Government of Canada.

Phoenix is designed for time poor, music professionals who want to review their business models and grow their businesses” said Scott Long, Executive Director of Music Nova Scotia, “the training is intensive, provides practical business guidance and is well worth the effort judging by the experience of those who’ve completed the program in BC.

Advisers and mentors are drawn from both the music industry and the business world, to give participants a range of perspectives on possibilities and ways forward. The work becomes more and more personalized for each participant as the workshops progress. A blended teaching approach incorporating face-to-face and self-paced learning is used, and psychology sessions are incorporated to give participants tools for working more efficiently and achieving better work/life balance.

Alumni report significant changes to their outlooks and their businesses:

“...The program was incredibly valuable – being with a small group that were open + engaged in a setting away from daily life was great. The content was intense and mind blowing and will impact how I proceed from here. Advisors complemented each other and were all amazing.” – Trish McEvoy, Higherlife Music Group

Phoenix has changed how I think about income, productivity and my team. This change has already increased sales, streamlined staffing and produced future planning.” – Kate Wattie, Tonic Records

“The advisors involved in the program were exceptional. The community that it developed within the attendees was really awesome!” – Anonymous

Entry to Phoenix is competitive and based on an applicant’s professional achievements. There are no course fees, and the cost of air travel, food, and accommodations to attend the training will be covered by the program. All course materials and information disclosed during the program are treated strictly as commercial in confidence.
