They may be young, but that hasn’t stopped a trio of Tillsonburg, ON sisters from making a name for themselves in the country music community.
The Small Town Girls (sisters, Haley, Hannah, and Cassie Van Maele) may not yet be household names or radio regulars, but these teenage musicians are doing the legwork that country music admires, as they hone their skills and put in their 10,000 hours on every stage they can.
And some of those stages are pretty big!
This February, The Small Town Girls will join Brett Kissel on tour as they open his show on the 23rd in North Bay, ON. Their opening spot on the We Were That Song Tour is their second appearance with Kissel, following up their January 2017 performance in Barrie on the Ice, Snow & 30 Below Tour. The trio won the opportunity to open for the Canadian star from Alberta thanks to their cover of his We Were That Song single; which leads us to this message to the Van Maele sisters: CONGRATULATIONS!
The Small Town Girls’ list of stage partners goes on from there, with their website listing more than 30 acts and industry professionals, including CMAOntario Awards nominees and winners like James Barker Band, River Town Saints, Leah Daniels and Genevieve Fisher. And we’re sure, as time goes on, and the girls continue to put in their work, that list will grow even more.
As it is for many emerging artists, YouTube has been a wonderful platform for allowing the trio to share performance videos and covers of current and classic country songs, as well as their 2017 original, Just For Kicks.
Keep your eyes and ears open for more from The Small Town Girls – we have a feeling they’re just getting started!
