A Message from the President (December 2017)

2017 has been an incredible year for the Country Music Association of Ontario and the continued success stories of our members. The Board of Directors would like to thank all of our members for their ongoing support and friendships. It really does feel like a big family.

Our membership is at a record high and new members continue to join weekly, and as a gentle reminder, January 2018 is the month that memberships are to be renewed. Please visit our website at www.cmaontario.ca for online renewal.

Tickets are going fast for the 2018 Award Show and CMAOntario members can still take advantage of a special members-only price. Promo codes to access the members’ discount will be sent to CMAOntario members via email through the Association. Early-bird tickets for the public are still available until December 31, 2017, and full pricing will be in effect as of January 1, 2018. For those that might still be interested in the VIP experience, I suggest you jump now, as there are only 5 more available. Tickets are available for purchase through the Centennial Hall Box Office – online at www.centennialhall.london.ca – or by calling 1.888.999.8980. You will not want to miss this night, and here’s a suggestion: CMAOntario Awards tickets would make a nice Christmas present for your country-loving friends!

Congratulations to the 6 members that made the final lineup for the Ontario leg of the Kick it With Kissel contest: Augusta Ray, Nicole Rayy, The Small Town Girls, Ben Hudson, Amanda Jordon and Buck Twenty Band. What a great opportunity to be able to play for such large crowds and expand your fan base. Thanks everyone for submitting!

Many CMAOntario members are saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Dauphin Mayor Eric Irwin. Eric was also, among many other things, the driving force and President behind the 30 year old Dauphin Musicfest – one of the very best country music festivals in the West. I had the pleasure of meeting with Eric several times in Nashville and as an invited guest of their event in Dauphin. Beautiful man, beautiful spirit. We will remember Eric Irwin with joy.

It has truly been an honour to serve as your President over the last 6 months. The support, camaraderie and spirit of friends, colleagues, fellow directors and the members are things that we sincerely cherish.

And speaking of cherish, however you celebrate this Holiday Season, I hope your busy schedule allows you the time to share it with those you love. I am especially excited and looking forward to 2018!

From our families to yours…….Merry Christmas!!
