A Message From the President by Sam Arraj

Sam_209x300Dear members:

I want to congratulate London, Ontario, for its successful bid in returning Country Music Week and the CCMA awards to Ontario in 2016. The CMAO is extremely excited about the news and we want to help the CCMA make it a hugely successful event.

In March, we announced our first batch of performers for the 2014 CMAO Awards show and they are: The Western Swing Authority, Jason Blaine, Autumn Hill and The Good Family. We are very proud of the first flight. Be on the lookout on facebook and Twitter for more exciting news about the performers and presenters. Get your tickets while they last – go to www.cmaontario.ca.

The first CMAO Awards Contenders ballot submission deadline was March 18, 2014. Good luck to all the members who entered the race on the first ballot! The auditors have confirmed a high rate of response from the membership. I want to thank everyone who exercised their right to vote. The announcement of the official nominees for the 2014 CMAO awards will be at our press conference on April 8, 2014. If any member of the media would like to attend the press conference, please email CMAO publicist Jane Harbury at: jane@harbury.ca.

The CMAO held another DemoRama LIVE on March 29, 2014, in Peterborough, ON with host radio station Country 105. Our Special Guest Performer & expert panelist was renowned songwriter and artist Tebey, who currently has a Top 10 hit with “Wake Me Up”, featuring Emerson Drive. He was joined by Amanda Power (World Vision Canada Artist Associates Program and Tom Jackson Productions) and Randy Stark (On Ramp Records, Jason Blaine, Clayton Bellamy). The panel was hosted by CMAO Director Peter Linseman (Music Mentor Productions). Thanks to all the panelists and participants for making it another successful event.

If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear them – you can reach me at president@cmaontario.ca

Thank you for the continued support!

Sam Arraj, CPA, CA
