I want to congratulate the CMAO’s own Wendell Ferguson on his induction into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame! He is a valuable member and Director of the CMAO and has been an irreplaceable asset to the organization. He has played key roles for the CMAO by producing the monthly newsletters and by producing our key live events; including our first CMAO Performance Opportunity at in 2011 at Country Music Week and our two CMAO Awards shows. People say that if he wasn’t great at playing the guitar, he would have been a great comedian. Luckily he chose to play music, because he would have starved as a comedian…!
As a reminder, the AGM is going to take place on Monday, July 14th, 2014, at 7:00 PM, at the North York Civic Centre Members Lounge, 5100 Yonge Street, Toronto. As is standard for every AGM, half the seats on the Board of Directors are up for election. If you’re a member, please come out and exercise your right to vote. This is a great opportunity to meet your Board of Directors and to be involved shaping the future of the organization.
The CMAO has been working hard at providing career opportunities for the members. As such, a committee comprised of industry professionals has selected Leah Daniels as the CMAO’s candidate for this year’s CCMA FanFest contest. In addition, we have selected Emily Reid as the CMAO’s choice for a performance opportunity at Lucknow’s Music in the Fields Festival. I want to thank Lucknow’s organizers for partnering with us for this event.
We deliver much of the CMAO news through our social media platforms. As many of you know, the CMAO’s Road to Independence Conference will be taking place November 15 and 16, 2014. Block those dates in your calendars! Designed to offer an information-packed program to help both professional and aspiring artists to maximise their capabilities, it will also be an excellent networking hub – all for a very affordable delegate fee. As we get closer to the date, the majority of the advance conference information will be released through our social media outlets.
