From the twang-thang sound flowing out of husband\/wife duo Rosewood Ave, it would be easy to think there\u2019s a spiritual connection between Iroquois Falls, ON and the US Midwest, but somehow, Dave and Sabrina\u2019s combined DNA just comes out that way. And like many good stories, it all started with a disaster.<\/p>\n

A paper mill shutdown can\u2019t be classified as a good thing, but it relocated Dave\u2019s family into a house across the street (or should we say\u2026 Ave?) from Sabrina\u2019s, and it didn\u2019t take long for the sparks to fly. The value-add showed up when they discovered their voices meshed over shared musical taste. They married in 2017 and two years later, had become confident enough in their musical abilities to approach some music industry people. In late 2019, Rosewood Ave started working with Tara Shannon and Debbie Zavitson at Willow Sound Records.<\/p>\n

Then, the pandemic rolled into town.<\/p>\n

Their glamorous career move morphed into streaming performances over a cell phone duct-taped to a music stand, thankfully attracting hundreds of viewers. But despite the challenges, they managed to hook up with CMA award-winning Nashville producer Garth Fundis (Sugarland, Trisha Yearwood) in 2020 to record their debut single, \u201cFool for Love\u201d. They\u2019ve since released \u201cBroke\u201d and \u201cWhatcha Gonna Do\u201d (which lists Sugarland\u2019s Kristian Bush as co-writer). All three songs\u2019 videos can be found on YouTube along with a collection of their most-streamed performances.<\/p>\n

2022 saw an increasing departure from online shows and a return to live audience shows, many of them spreading their Southern vibe through Northern Ontario, but also including CMAOntario-supported Canal Days in Welland, a bunch of festivals, some CCMA events in Alberta, and an opening slot for Dean Brody.<\/p>\n

Just for fun, Rosewood Ave entered their video for \u201cWhatcha Gonna Do\u201d on TCN\u2019s The Next Big Twang, where they\u2019ve racked up a couple of thousand views so far. The latest snack, as teased on Facebook (as of the date of writing this piece), is the impending release of their next single, \u201cGood Ole Days\u201d, on February 10th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

With not a paper mill in sight, everything\u2019s coming up Rosewood.<\/p>\n
