Stand by Your Brand: Developing Your Image and Brand as an Artist

In the current music market, personal branding, sponsorships, innovative distribution, and public image have all become key aspects for an artist’s success. Everything an artist does, says, looks like, and sounds like, is a direct or indirect form of advertising. Artists owe it to themselves to look at their art as a commodity and craft their brand to complement their art. This session will discuss these concepts and examine the tools that artists are using to differentiate themselves, connect with fans, and maximize their brand equity.

10:55am – 12:25am
Sweet Teams Are Made of This: Building Your Team & Getting Your Music Out There

Music is a team sport and having the right team in place is crucial to an artist’s success in today’s environment. While there is no “right” way to choose your players, you need smart, competent people focused on your band’s future. A strong team pushes everyone involved to do their best, raises the quality of everything you do, and in the end, helps you win.

12:25pm – 1:35pm

We’re All Ears: Demo Listening Session

At last, the captive audience you’ve always wanted! This session allows you to bring a demo and get direct feedback from music professionals – those who listen to demos as part of their job – from both a craft and business point of view. Find out what these experts have to say about song structure, lyric writing and generally how to improve your songs. You’ll also have a chance to put the panel on the spot during our Q & A. Bring your song on a USB drive – mp3 format – plus 3 printed copies of the lyrics.

3:15pm – 4:30pm
Don’t Bore Us, Get to the Chorus: Songwriting Panel

Some songs just flow out fully formed and some are crafted and laboured over for months. Hear professional songwriters discuss the mysteries and pleasures of writing songs for a living, techniques for crafting songs for radio, tips for finding inspiration and exercises to ignite the creative process, illustrated with live performances. Whether you’re an aspiring country star, songwriter or both, you will want to be here for this unique presentation.
