Over the summer period, the Membership Committee decided it was time to look out the window at our neighbourhood and get to know the neighbours a little better. We wanted to encourage a good response rate, so our first-ever Membership Survey was designed to be short and sweet, but allow us to collect some key information. Many might think that 51 respondents is a bit light, but recognizing that our current membership is just north of 500, simple math makes this a 10% response rate. Sure, we wish it was more, but the direct marketing companies would be popping champagne over a 10% response – they’re used to 4%! Here’s what we learned: The gender split is 52% male / 48% female. The age group […]
A southern Ontario girl since she was 6 years old, Shae Dupuy has been singing, writing and performing music for nearly her entire life. And now, the St. Catharines artist is releasing new music from her more current life to the country music world. Her new EP, Brave (Oct. 28, 2016), comes more than 2 years after the 2014 release of her debut EP, Breakdown, and offers a deeper perspective on Dupuy’s view of the world, understanding of herself, and ability to create the music she wants to make and share. Shae has taken the influence of modern stars like Shania Twain, Taylor Swift and The Dixie Chicks and used it to craft her own style and sound. And in that sound, and her songs, […]
Raised in the country outside of Woodstock, ON, Doc Yates grew up living the life that we hear about in our favourite songs. And that life is reflected in his own music as Yates paves his way in the industry. Now in Ottawa, and having developed his own sound – labeled Soul Country, Yates and the Kings Evil are dedicated to making their music the way they want to and the results are a whole lot of fun. Tracks like Four Fingers Of Whiskey and All That I Needed are great listens (find them on his website now), combining lyrics and musicianship to make toe-tapping songs that will make you want more. And more is coming… Doc Yates is working on his first full […]

The Country Music Assocation of Ontario (CMAO) is excited to announce London, Ontario as the host city for the 2017 CMAO Awards. Set to take place Sunday, June 11, 2017, the 5th Annual edition makes its first move outside of the Toronto area in an effort to bring the Country music celebration to a wider community throughout Ontario, motivated by 4 consecutive sold-out years. “The Country Music Association of Ontario was created to nurture new talent and celebrate our established community throughout this province,” said Bruce Good, President, Country Music Association of Ontario. “To do so effectively, the Board of Directors felt it was time to move our awards show to another venue in another city. After much deliberation and a partnership with Tourism London, […]
