Taking the phrase “Real Country Girl” to a whole new level, our artist of the month, Megan Morrison, is full of country charm that will have you hooked in no time. Raised on the family cattle ranch near Holstein ON, Megan didn’t just grow up in the country- she IS all things country.
No stranger to boots, chaps and spurs, Megan doesn’t merely having singing and songwriting under her belt- she is a champion rodeo star! Skilled at Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping, she even sings the National anthem at Rodeos on horseback.
With the perfect combination of twang and tough, Megan’s voice stirs memories of classic Reba, with a hint of rock and roll. She has thrilled stages across Canada with her rodeo and stage performances, and has been a staple performer at the Holstein Rodeo since its inception 12 years ago.
With three albums so far, Megan shows no signs of stopping the pursuit of her musical dreams. Her 2012 single “Little Black Book” was received positively by radio, followed by her powerful cover of Garth Brooks’ “Rodeo”, which garnered airplay on over 40 stations Canada-wide. Her current single “No Boys Allowed”, which was just released to DMDS, is a strong and sassy display of Megan’s unique personality and sound.
Megan never shies away from a challenge! She is currently working as a rock truck driver; and when the weather turns cold, she goes back to working the NWT pipeline to support her dream.
This ‘real’ country girl has all the grit and goods it takes to meet her end goal: staying on the horse, both in the ring and in the music business.
