Blending heartfelt storytelling with powerhouse vocals and soaring harmonies, Canadian country duo Amanda & James have quickly become ones to watch in the indie country music scene. Before teaming up, Amanda Kind and James Downham each carved out thriving solo careers, earning radio play and a loyal following. James gained recognition with his popular singles “Unwind” and “Wine & Whiskey,” while Amanda’s songs “Love Used to Live Here” and “Slow Dance” turned heads, with the latter soaring to #1 on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country.

Hailing from opposite ends of the country, Amanda and James each bring their own unique influences to their music. Amanda was born and raised in White Rock, BC, where she grew up by the ocean playing piano and listening to everything from Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, and The Chicks, to Mariah Carey, Green Day, musical theatre soundtracks, and more. Her eclectic taste helped shape her dynamic vocal style and deep appreciation for storytelling in music. Raised in small-town rural Ontario, James called Pembroke and Picton home before settling in Southwestern Ontario. Now living in Stratford with his wife Ange, James blends his love of traditional rock and country with a modern edge, influenced by his time performing across North America in a Tim McGraw tribute act.
James was the Season 2 winner of the Canadian reality competition show, The Shot.

Amanda and James first collaborated in 2021 with their duet “We’re Okay” and later released “Another Round,” an upbeat fan-favourite that highlighted their undeniable chemistry. After playing countless shows together, performing a mix of originals and covers, two things became clear: their voices were made to sing together, and audiences couldn’t get enough of their country rendition of the Dirty Dancing classic “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” With overwhelming fan demand, Amanda & James officially released the track, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter as an official duo.

With rich harmonies, powerhouse vocals, and a shared love for authentic storytelling, Amanda & James are crafting a sound that is both timeless and modern. With more original music on the horizon, 2025 is poised to be their biggest year yet as they continue to captivate audiences with heartfelt ballads, high-energy anthems, and magnetic performances.
