It’s been a helluva year so far for Sarnia’s Eric Ethridge, and it’s only half over!
Ethridge has been working hard to put his voice, name, and face in the minds of country music fans in Ontario since the calendar flipped to 2016, and prior to that even. We first saw Eric when we were researching the 2015 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artists Contest, and saw him on stage for the first time that weekend last August, where he finished second in the competition.
Since then, we’ve had the chance to meet and see Eric Ethridge on a few more occasions, and every time he has shown us that his talent and ability to connect with country music fans is going to give him the chance to make it in the music world. In May, we caught Ethridge on stage in Toronto at The Phoenix Concert Theatre, as he performed at the Boots & Hearts 2016 Hot Shots Showcase during Canadian Music Week – and that night he did a fantastic job of owning the stage, showing his energy and passion for the music, and making more than a few of the ladies in the front row swoon.
Eric followed up the Toronto performance with another Boots & Hearts event in Barrie, and in June he took the stage at the Burlington Sound of Music Festival to kick off his summer with more music in front of a new crowd. And all of this before the year hit the halfway point.
But maybe most importantly, and most impactfully for Eric Ethridge’s career, was the opportunity to participate in the CCMA Discovery Program in Toronto this April. We asked him about the experience on a recent call and it was easy to hear the enthusiasm and appreciation in his voice. And from the reviews we heard, Eric did a great job of showcasing his talent and polish when given the chance to grab his guitar and play for mentors, industry and fans.
The second half of 2016 looks like it will be just as busy for Ethridge. He told us that he’s in the studio recording what is planned to be his debut single release to Canadian radio in the fall, and that will be followed up by a planned EP early in 2017. And while he’s working on that, he also has shows booked at Trackside in London, Captain Kidd Days in Corunna, and 6 days at the Northern Comfort Saloon as part of the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto this August.
Eric Ethridge knows that it’s going to take a lot more hard work to get where he wants to go, and we’re sure that he’s going to continue to put it in, based on his attitude and track record.
Find Eric online at his website and social media channels to keep up to date and learn more. And if you haven’t seen his excellent series of covers on YouTube, make sure you take some time to check those out!
